Bowflex® TreadClimber® models TC1000, TC3000, and TC5000 were redesigned mechanically for release in early 2008. Changes include the elimination of the teeter mechanism, change to spring-return style shocks, and a different style treadle locking mechanism. Although both versions are still very similar in design and function there are differences in replacement parts. It is always important to identify the unit as a Version #1 (2004-2007) or Version #2 (after 2007).
DETERMINING IF A TREADCLIMBER IS VERSION #1 OR VERSION #2:
Perform the following test to check to determine machine version:
1. Go to the front of the machine where the red treadle-lock lever is located and unlock the Bowflex® TreadClimber® treadles.
2. Use your foot to push down one of the treadles as far down as it will go. Remove your foot.
a. If the depressed treadle rises to the resting position and the opposite treadle
does not move, machine is the current (Version #2) design.
b. If the depressed treadle remains in the down position and the opposite treadle
raises, machine is the earlier (Version #1).
All Treadclimber pistons look the same but they are manufactured differently.
